Everyday Well-Being

Plan a "comedy night" with someone and pick a funny movie to watch together.

How to do it

Pull out your calendar, get in touch with a friend or family member, and plan a night of laughs. Download, order, or rent a movie. You can also visit your local library to borrow a movie, typically for free or a nominal fee. Then get ready to kick up your heels together and share the laughter.

Why it matters

Laughing is good medicine, and it's even better when you do it with someone else! Laughter relieves physical tension and stress, and studies show that humor may also boost the body's immune system. Regular, hearty laughs might even help prevent heart disease. When you get together with someone to share in the laughs, it strengthens your social connections, which are important for maintaining good emotional health.

Fun fact

Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.
