Invest time in a friend or acquaintance: Reach out and make a date for lunch, coffee, or a walk.
How to do it
Start investing in a friendship today or get to know an acquaintance better by reaching out and making a date for something fun and easy. It could be lunch, coffee, a quick walk or bike ride ... whatever you both enjoy, set it up and put it on the calendar.
Why it matters
Cultivating lasting friendships takes time and effort, which can be difficult to find when we're busy and distracted with our day-to-day activities. But investing in friendships (and making new ones!) is very important no matter what's going on in your life, because friends help bolster your mood and provide an important support system. People who have strong relationships tend to be healthier and may even live longer!
Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King have been best friends for 33 years. They met while they were both working at a TV station in Baltimore, Maryland.
I spent some time on the phone with a good friend from Boston who I don't see often.
Made a date with an old friend to have tea via text
My parents and I spent the day together. Granted, we were doing medical appointments but it was still together time. Also, I was able to take my dog on a long walk and play ball with him. The poor guy needed it! :)
I do this always. However, today being Thanksgiving I've invited friends over for beautiful leftover dinner for tomorrow and perhaps a game of SCRABBLE, Trivial Pursuit or spin the bottle. (Just kidding).
Did this one last night! Had a nice little get together with a friend I haven't been able to make time for in awhile
Dinner with a friend in a couple weeks. :-)
my best friend and i have been sorely lacking time together recently. so we just decided to cancel all of our plans and head down to do some window shopping at the mall! we had so much fun just wandering around, and enjoying a light lunch. definitely a wonderful challenge! ♥
i recently started working with a company, part-time, and i have acquainted myself with the boss, Jeff. really nice guy :)
Reconnected in the last few years with some friends from the distant past and am trying to get together more often.
