How to do it
Send your stress down the drain! Take a hot bath or shower and appreciate the warmth and relaxation. (If you like, add some bath oil or bubble bath to the tub.) Already had your morning shower? Take a moment to remember how you felt in the steamy air and hot water.
Why it matters
Baths have long been used as therapy for a range of ailments, including muscle and joint aches, tension headaches, arthritis pain, and insomnia. They're also great for relaxation and stress relief, because they give your body and mind time to slow down.
In the third century B.C.E., the Roman emperor Caracalla built therapeutic baths to relieve his arthritis at hot springs in what is now Baden-Baden, Germany. Parts of the baths survive to this day.
