Everyday Well-Being

Do one small task or chore that you've been putting off.

How to do it

Whether it's a task from your to-do list or a pesky chore at the back of your mind, take care of one small thing you've been putting off. Once it's done, take note of how you feel - that sense of relief or accomplishment might come in handy the next time you're tempted to put off a task until later.

Why it matters

It's easy to put off doing boring or unpleasant tasks. But not doing those chores can waste energy. By taking care of it now, you may gain more energy for the things you really want to do, and you'll also lessen the feelings of stress that come with procrastination.

Fun fact

The word "chore" is an American English variant of "charr," a Middle English word meaning "a piece of work." "Charr" lived on in the form of "charwoman," a mid-1800s British term for a cleaning lady.
