Take a few minutes to throw away all your pens that don't work.

How to do it

How often do you pick up a pen, and when it doesn't work, you just put it back instead of throwing it away? Go through your pen collection and get rid of any pens that don't write - if they didn't write this time, it's a pretty sure bet that they aren't going to write the next time you reach for them.

Why it matters

Looking for a pen that works is frustrating and wastes time, two things that can contribute to feeling stressed-out. Plus, useless clutter makes you tense, inhibits creativity, and affects your workday. Gaining a sense of control over your environment - even a minimal one - can improve your mood and well-being.

Fun fact

During World War II, pilots used ballpoint pens instead of fountain pens because they don't leak at high altitudes.
