Check out the "salty 7" and learn which processed foods contain the most sodium.
How to do it
Visit http://www.livestrong.com/a... to learn about the seven categories of foods that pack the strongest sodium punch. Some of them may surprise you!
Why it matters
Our bodies need a bit of salt to work properly, but many of us take in way more than we need on an everyday basis. Too much sodium ups the risk for high blood pressure, stroke, heart attacks, and kidney disease. By familiarizing yourself with the "salty seven," you can make healthier choices when you shop, prepare food, and order in restaurants.
Who wins for most cheese consumed? Residents of Greece, who eat an average of 54 pounds (25 kilograms) per person per year.
Google, what else...Of course, I don't do much in the way of processed foods, and I don't believe in eliminating salt just because I am told to do so. My body always informs me and we adjust. TRUE STORY: An older friend, a scientist, went through a lot over a long period of time, and almost died a few times, only to find out his body was getting rid of the sodium. The diet he was following had low salt requirement as well. A couple of months in the hospital and PT, and an operation later, he has to take sodium tablets to live normally. Moral of the story: Test your mineral levels before jumping on whatever it is you jump on.
To a fabulous week, all ♥
Here I come google..
I agree I am a sugar person not salt so much
I don't like salt and I add it little. My problem is sugar - 7 things which I should not eat: cappuccino coffee, chocolate, chocolate-covered raisins, sometime cookies, ice cream... I don't have 7 things, not bad
Thanks for the info!
Salt isn't that big of a deal. I don't know why people are always trying to stay away from salt? Salt is good for you. You just want to have more to your diet than just salty things. What you really need to stay away from is deep fried foods and fast food and microwavable foods!!
i never eat fast food and always check sodium content
I try to really avoid most processed foods. I also really don't eat much in the way of starches or breads any more. So this is sort of easy to do.
For someone struggling, I would say watch the health bars or anything processed because those food marketers are sly buggers.
I take prescription sodium tablets because my body doesn't store sodium so this article was helpful to make sure I'm not overdoing my salt intake by eating these foods.
