Daily Challenge Monday Apr. 23, 2012
Stretch your upper back with a seated airplane pose.

Did these at work and tried to get my coworkers to do them but they didn't want to look "silly". Their loss - my gain. ;)

I did this right away. No excuse to put off for tomorrow to do this one, and I think it was persoanlly meant for me.
How to do it
Sit up straight toward the edge of your chair with your arms down by your sides, palms facing in. Take a deep breath, exhale, and lean forward at the waist, halfway to your thighs. Lift your arms straight behind you with your palms facing up. Inhale and return to an upright position, then exhale and lean forward again. Repeat two times.
Why it matters
As we age, our upper and lower back muscles and the muscles along the back of the upper arms and shoulders become weaker and more prone to pain and strain. By doing this simple stretch, you can both strengthen these areas and prevent injury during everyday tasks.
Every one of us is getting older, which is a natural process. Time is constantly moving on, second by second. Nothing can stop it, but what we can do is use our time properly; that is in our hands. Whether we believe in a spiritual tradition or not, we need to use our time meaningfully. If over days, weeks, months and years, we have used our time in a meaningful way – when our last day comes, we'll be happy, we'll have no regrets.

Hard to do over my fat belly but I got my head between my knees. lol

Done, but with some pain! Ouch for my left tricep! I think I should have stretched before I stretched! ;)

We'll keep at it - you'll get looser.

Michelle P. replied April 24, 2012 at 13:40 UTC:
I read this wrong at first and thought you hurt your tricep doing the seated chair lunge (today's challenge) and I thought -- hmmm, maybe she didn't do that right. :)

I only felt this stretch in my back upper arms, so obviously I need to work the arms more :)
Have a positive start to your week everyone! -

Done, I did it 10 times.
