Thanks for the encouragement, Kathleen - I've been thinking a lot about favorite meals and favorite foods lately, given I'm on the road to weight loss surgery, trying to ensure that I have a way to prevent eating those favorite things that jeopardize my health.
My favorite meal is a dinner out at The Melting Pot - starting with the salad course with their delicious house honey mustard dressing, continuing through the swiss cheese fondue course, dipping bread and vegetables, then the entree course cooked in oil, with beef and chicken and shrimp, as well as the most tasty of all, button mushroom caps stuffed with green goddess dressing, coated in batter and fried. Top it all off with the chocolate fondue mixed with amaretto, dipping the strawberries and bananas and cheesecake in it. The entire meal is generally paired with a bottle of White Zinfandel wine, and takes somewhere around 3 hours when shared with good company.
I love all the different smells and tastes and textures all layered on each other to make a great dining experience. Meals where there's a little bit of everything are sensory pleasures, and make them my favorite. And although I enjoy the hell out of them, I can't continue to indulge.
My most successful dietary periods were preceded by a "let's go to Melting Pot, and I'll start eating healthy tomorrow". Often that's considered a bad idea, but I've gone years without straying when I've had my big "farewell to food" meal at Melting Pot. It's time to schedule my last one soon.

Sounds decadent! I don't think you have to say good bye forever to all your favorites, but personally try to limit to one indulgence (high fat or sugar) food per meal on an occasional basis, then just in a sample size portion.

I always loved my dad's fried rice. I like the variety of textures between the rice and the sausage, and the pepperoni chunks. The sweet flavor of the onions, and the flavor of the soy sauce. I have tried making it many times, and it's good, but it's not the same as when Dad used to make it.

Rice and my mom's tempura and pork tonkatsu! Since we only see her a couple times a year I don't feel bad eating the fried food. Generally when we have this meal, most of the family is there at the table too. Thanks Denise for the encouragement!

I've been fortunate enough to share a family dinner with Nancy's family. It was wonderful. I didn't get to have tempura though. Maybe next time.

tonkatsu is a pork cutlet that is breaded in panko and fried. My favorite way of having this is when she put's it on a kabob with onion slices between the cutlets and fries it up.

I've been thinking about this - and I don't really have a favorite meal, at least in terms of the food served. What makes it my favorite is having family or friends around the table!

Rare filet with lots of grilled veggies... I love the fullness of flavor in a properly cooked steak and I'm totally addicted to grilled veggies.

I think my favorite meal is chicken enchiladas with a sour cream sauce. I love most things with chicken and I LOVE mexican food. The chicken mixed with sauteed onions, smothered in a creamy warm sour cream sauce....it's the BoMb!!!

This is a hard one! I like pretty much all food! My favorite meal now would probably be Fajitas with my daughter. Or maybe Baja Fresh shared with my daughter, or...............! : ) When Mom was still with us, it was her homemade chicken and noodles with her homemade cinnamon rolls for dessert, although her orange rolls were good too! With my husband, it's his homemade BBQ'd ribs! I ask for these on my birthday!
