First, I must thank Patricia W. for her support and encouragement today. Also, thanks for all of the smiles, hugs, and kind comments from all of the wonderful team connections daily.

I'm sorry that I'm so late getting started, but glad to join this great environment of DC family everday. I checked hours ago to see what my challenge was for today, and all of a sudden I got writers' block.

I noticed that the rain had stopped, so I decided to go and run some errands before I get started working on my DC task. I'm still fogy on this discussion, but I'm glad that I made it back in time. I'm not too comfortable on talking about this, because it's something that I have been working on to improve myself. I don't know how far I want to go with this part of my personal life. It would be enough to write a book.
    .
I checked a few connections to see how they did, because my mind went over-load trying to figure out what to say. It's not easy to erase some things from the past. I'm at the age that I have developed enough wisdom to get through a lot of petty things that doesn't matter. I've learned how to handle most emotions as they happen, but now and then I admit that I over-react and say something that would better be left unsaid.

“It is the mind which creates the world around us, and even though we stand side by side in the same meadow, my eyes will never see what is beheld by yours, my heart will never stir to the emotions with which yours is touched.” George Glessing

Today, I was gently shown how true this quote can be if you take the time to observe your surrounding. When the Divas came to the PINK HOUSE this afternoon, we did karaoke. Some of the favorite songs were: the itsy bitsy spider, the farmer in the dell, the crooked man, five little monkeys jumping on the bed, when the ants go marching and a few more. Well, we had a lot more songs lined up but the previous songs had movement or dance with them. So, there was lots of laughter and fun.
Next, we watched an instructional video for kids on learning how to do hip-hop dancing. There was one adult and three kid instructors. All the kids were under 8. I thought it was simple, energetic and fun. All of the divas, except for one was laughing, moving, giggling and having fun. I observed my little one for a while..she kept looking back or sideways at the others. Finally, I called her over, sat on the floor and pulled her in my lap. I rocked her for a while and then gently started the conversation about why she was not participating. Long and short of it was she didn't think that she could do it..she didnt want to not do it as good as the others..so she chose not to do it at all. I jumped up and started doing it..poorly, off beat, making fun at myself. Then I had her to just do it help me get it right. Afterwards, I held her and whisper in her ears: " Never hold yourself back from trying something because you aren't good at it..just have fun with it. Enjoy moving and experiencing something new. Just learn to have fun, enjoy you, be open to new things..you may like and you may not.. You will never know if you like if you dont try it..just give it a try.... don't hold back." This encouragement was given to a 4-year old who is going on 40-years old. I pray that I sowed I deep seed into her spirit.

But some emotions don't make a lot of noise. It's hard to hear pride. Caring is real faint - like a heartbeat. And pure love - why, some days it's so quiet, you don't even know it's there.”

Sign in a gas station: Coke -- 49 cents. Two for a dollar
I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when the clerk noticed that I had never signed my name on the back of the credit card. She informed me that she could not complete the transaction unless the card was signed. When I asked why, she explained that it was necessary to compare the signature on the credit card with the signature I just signed on the receipt.
So I signed the credit card in front of her. She carefully compared that signature to the one I signed on the receipt. As luck would have it, they matched!

Warning! At a grocery store in San Jose, they have new credit card/bank card readers at the checkout stands. If you don't know how to orient your card to swipe it through the reader, the checkout person will say, ``Strip down, face toward me.''

The reason: Many deer were being hit by cars and he no longer wanted them to cross there.

``Do you know anything about this fax-machine?''
    2nd Person:
    ``A little. What's wrong?''
    1st Person:
``Well, I sent a fax, and the recipient called back to say all she received was a cover-sheet and a blank page. I tried it again, and the same thing happened.''
    2nd Person:
``How did you load the sheet?''
    1st Person:
``It's a pretty sensitive memo, and I didn't want anyone else to read it by accident, so I folded it so only the recipient would open it and read it.''

I was in a car dealership a while ago when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in ``Twister.'' I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had set the cruise control, then went in back to make a sandwich.

I thought a lot about fear today. It ocurred to me that there are a multitude of fears, some of them good, some of them bad, but all of them are teachers. Every time I feel fear is an opportunity to understand myself better. It is really kind of extraordinary if you examine it deeply. I mean there is the feeling to look at, and then there is the object of your fear and your relationship to that. There is the challenge to face that fear. I mean we are all wired for fight or flight, yeah? But even if you rise above simple instinct, it still comes down to a choice between facing the situation or deciding it isn't worth it. I mean for example, I am afraid of heights (although not afraid of flying, go figure). Anyway since there is no need for me to be in a position of height, I choose just to not pursue that. However when facing it, for instance standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon, I put myself to the test and try to see how long I can manage that fear. Then there is for example my fear of spiders. This intellectually is ridiculous to me, but it is there and I have to deal with it. I don't get the choice to not deal with spiders because the truth is that anywhere you are on the planet (except the poles I assume) you are no farther than 10 feet away from a spider. So when the time comes for me to deal with it, I don't even get to test my ability to manage it. I just freak out and run. Or jump. Or whatever the situation calls for. Oh and just to protect my macho, I am not afraid of snakes. Even the dangerous ones like rattlesnakes which are common here (in the mountains and such). I am wise enought to know how to avoid them but it isn't that instinctual blast that I get from spiders.
Anyway now I just babbled for too long when all I meant to say was my 5 minutes with fear was a good thing. Forgive me the excessive blather.

Valori C. the finish line is in sight baby!

I am feeling beaten up today. I don't know if you'd call it "beaten up" or frustrated, either works for me. I just got home and I really don't want to talk about it right now but I'll sit here on the bed and try to do a psyche job on myself before school tomorrow so hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
I did have a good swim tonight. The water helps wash away the top layer of distress.

I can't believe this is already day # 4 for Lazetta and I. I feel like I've been posting the bare minimum lately due to being tired and stressed. I hope next week is a little better.

I have been working on this for the last few months and trying to track some of my different feelings /emotions throughout the day. Also, trying to observe how I can see things more positively to better help my well being. Just being more aware really has made me stop and take a deep breathe.

Today I focused on how my hip was feeling, I want to make sure that I don't aggravate it so that I can continue to run without pain.
