Tough call, as I can think of many, such as the amazing California coast, beaches and the Pacific Ocean. I can hear those calming waves now. :)
But I will have to go with diving deep into meditation; going into the stillness of the heart. Nothing beats that, and it is portable, so I carry it with me wherever I go! :) Om!
I don't picture a place so much as visualizing cuddling with my children, my honey, dog, etc. It's that feeling of being embraced that brings me peace.
I picture the nameless falls below Nash Lake in the Three Sisters Wilderness.
My backyard is a "sanctuary" for me and I find myself only going out there on the weekends to enjoy the flowers, birds and silence. During the week, this week, I found myself feeling stressed and pictured myself in my backyard sanctuary which instantly relaxed me and restored my calm. Such a great way to invite calm into your day!
the trees and birds all around me in my backyard always calm me down and I can appreciate the world around me.
i have several mental "happy" places...
I do get stressed out easy sometimes, and I think my favorite place to think about is in my bed. I always feel safe and comfy in my bed and the world is far away.
Yachats, Oregon. Sitting on the rocks with eyes closed, waves crashing and beauty surrounding me. I love the beach :)
Honestly I can't think of a single place where there isn't the stain of negativity. I pride myself in being a positive person but when I'm in a foul mood and need to be centered, I feel like I ruminate on all of the bad. Trying really hard to let that go. The closest thing I can think of to a calming place is when I'm floating in the pool. But even then I can think of a few negative instances involving that pool.
How do you center yourself and ignore the negativity around you? How do you let go? I would really love some advice.
