Daily Challenge Friday Aug. 10, 2012
Send a short, friendly email or text to get in touch with someone you like.
How to do it
Take just a moment to step away from any work or home duties today and send a text or email that just says hi to someone you like. Tell the person you were thinking of him or her, and keep the message short and upbeat.
Why it matters
Social interactions play a big part in our emotional and physical health! Studies show that people with a wide circle of friends live longer, healthier lives than people without friends. And having a circle of friends who you interact with regularly helps stave off dementia. Taking a minute out of your day to connect with someone you like will also provide a boost for the recipient of your message - a real win-win!
Humans aren't the only ones who like to make friends! Higher mammals and some birds have buddies who they enjoy spending time with. Some animals of different species may even become BFFs - like a dog and cat, for example - but it's unusual.
I reach out to friends ~ via email, text, calls / VMs -IMs ~ everyone is busy nowadays but it's just nice to Connect ...even briefly ;)
I am always sending short messages to people I want to keep in touch with. :D It's nice to talk with someone you have not spoken to in a while. Good to catch up :D
This a great reminder to do this occasionally for loved ones, especially family members. We just saw our daughter back to college for her sophomore year this morning, so I need to send her a supportive note before classes next week.
Already do this, isn't this what Facebook is for? I have found friends from gradeschool through Facebook!
i did this with a friend
Texted my friends and invited them to a family and friends get together.
I sent emails to my grandsons, they are having a hard time. Their dad walked on a 20 year marriage. My step- son has lost him mind. He has left 2 boys and a wife devastated.
I do this a lot. :)
