Write for 5 minutes about 1 thing that's stressing you, so you can think about it more clearly.
How to do it
Take five minutes to write down something that's stressing you out and why it's stressing you out. Use the "hot pen" method: Write everything you can think of about your problem and don't lift the pen from the paper until the five minutes are up. (You can type instead if you want - just make sure to get all of your thoughts out.) When you finish, take a few slow breaths, and then read what you wrote.
Why it matters
Multiple studies have shown that writing about a stressful situation lowers stress and improves mental clarity in dealing with the problem. When something is making us anxious, we can get stuck in a cycle of repetitive thinking that is unproductive and actually stresses us out even more. Writing can break that cycle by giving you something to do, by allowing you to vent and get your problem out of your head and onto a piece of paper. Once there, you may be able to deal with it more objectively and with a bit more clarity.
In the 1960s, a company spent over one million dollars developing a ball point pen that astronauts could use in the zero-gravity conditions of space.
I used to have a morning routine... 'Morning Pages'... where I would take 5+ minutes to write what I was stressed about, so I could just 'get stuff out' & then go on w/my day&it'd really make a difference. I also used to do my 'Gratitude Journal' at the end of each day, again it would really mean a lot! I am going to make it a point to get back to these very important 'daily rituals'!!!
there is nothing stressing me, so I am going to pass this challenge

Write it down and close the cover :)
Journals are awesome places to store your thoughts!!!
I'm stressing about my birthday present. The boyfriend said he'd pay for my first tattoo so knowing me, I decided on a whole sleeve. Now, my goal is to be a veterinary assistant by this time next year; I'm pretty sure you can't have tattoos in that work area. So my decision, which is more important, a super cool tattoo that defines the veterinary side of me (jungle theme sleeve) or the veterinary career? Ugh this sucks =[
Oh, and, I'm moving soon so I don't think it's even a good idea to spend some of my savings on a tattoo rather than an apt or food... =\ sighs...
Done. I have a tremendous amount of stress lately. Hopefully this helps!
I'm not so sure I should have done this challenge. Our family is going through a lot of changes right now, husband has a new job, oldest about to move out for college, and I've made a promise to myself that I'm going to step-up to the plate and start doing more around the house. I haven't even started, mostly because I'm afraid I'll fail, but the lack of trying has already caused a bit of discord in our home. :(
Great, after writing about my PC and Internet connection issues for five minutes I was able to get back to it and correct the problem. Thanks for the reminder to write.
This is something I already do! Yeah
i probably don't hold my tongue as much as I should...
