Everyday Well-Being

Name a sport or exercise you'd like to learn or take up again.

How to do it

Think of a sport or physical activity you used to love doing or would like to try. Tennis? Belly dancing? Yoga? Maybe you used to play a sport in school, but fell out of the habit over the years? Name the activity or sport you'd like to try. If you like, you can take the next step and look into free or low-cost resources for that sport, such as your local YMCA, adult school, or community college.

Why it matters

Being active is good for so many reasons! When you move that body, you lower your risk of coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, stroke, and certain types of cancer. Being physically active also improves your outlook, keeps your mind sharp, gives you more energy, and helps you sleep. By taking time to think about what you used to like (or would like to try), it may put you on a path to more regular activity that you really enjoy.

Fun fact

Cairo, Egypt is considered the belly dance capital of the world.
