Healthy Behaviors is about lifestyle habits, namely healthy eating and physical activity, which have proven connections to lifelong health and disease prevention.
Sit up straight in a chair, extend your legs, cross right leg over left, switch sides, and repeat.
How to do it
Sit up straight in a chair that does not have wheels. Put your hands on your hips and extend your legs straight out in front of you. Point your toes and cross your right leg over your left at the ankle. Next, switch sides so your left leg crosses over your right. Quickly repeat eight more times, alternating sides as you go.
Why it matters
It takes a lot of different muscle groups to make this scissor move successful! The leg motion requires you to engage muscles in both your inner and outer thighs. The move also calls on your core (can you feel those abdominal muscles working hard as you scissor your legs?). A strong core helps with everyday activities like bending or twisting and can help prevent back pain.
It's believed that the first pair of scissors appeared in Mesopotamia between 3,000 and 4,000 years ago.

Good core strengthener. the trick is to keep the abs in so the lower back stays protected. I am heading to a couple of dance classes and always look forward to Tuesday morning. I love the teacher! She is so much fun!

Good morning DC friends! Day 2 with the grandsons and we are off and running. Good little exercise to get things going, but I think just keeping up with the boys is giving me enough exercise these days!
We enjoyed another beautiful day yesterday with temps in the 40's. Chance of a little snow today, but supposed to warm up again soon.
