Today's Daily Challenge Friday Mar. 06, 2015
Physical well-being is about exercising regularly, making healthy food choices, and getting enough sleep.
Do 4 standing abdominal stretches.
How to do it
Grab a small weight, can, or water bottle. Stand up straight with your feet hip-distance apart. Hold the weight in your right hand with your arm at your side. Place your left hand on your left temple and point your elbow out to the side. Next, bend to the right from your waist until you feel a stretch in your left side. Straighten and return to the starting position, then bend to the left. Switch the weight to your left hand, place your right hand on your right temple, and stretch to each side.
Why it matters
This exercise provides a nice stretch for the oblique muscles, the long, diagonal muscles on either side of your midsection. The obliques are what help you bend from side to side and allow you to twist your torso. Strengthening these muscles can help you perform everyday tasks with less risk of injury.
The Beatles' last live performance of the song "Twist and Shout" was on August 31, 1965 at San Francisco's Cow Palace.
