- Completed 1826 challenges
For much of my life I was a Library Manager.
Married now for the second time round and between us we have 4 children and 1 grand daughter.
Live a block from the beach on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia and now about to venture to the Clarence Valley in Northern NSW.
No Pacts for me.
- Susie R. is taking time away from Daily Challenge and will be back on November 1, 2017.
My computer is playing up and I am about to get a new one next week, and undergo the almighty task of getting all of my data transfered across..........so, I will be back when the dust has settled.
Currently my mouse is dying........and each post I make takes 5 times longer than it should!
AHhhhh.........1st world problems!
See you when I get back.
Draw a treasure map to 1 of your goals.
Ok...........although I already know the ways to get there!
Today's photo was taken in Sydney Harbour........near to the fabulous Aquarium.
Pledge to focus on your own achievements the next time you compare yourself to others.
No need for pledges........I don't have the time, energy or inclination to compare myself with others.......I believe that there is enough success to go around for everyone, that we can all learn from each other, and it is much more rewarding (and ultimately successful) to support others.
Today's photo is of the pitch at Sir Donald Bradman Oval.........arguably the best cricketer the world has ever seen!
Take 5 minutes to think about a famous quote and how it applies to your goals.
"I don't have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness - it's right in front of me if I'm paying attention and practicing gratitude." Brene Brown
I try to practice this daily........with ordinary tasks and huge goals........the real trick is practicing gratitude........which I need to relearn daily!
Today's photo is from the Mount Kembla Mining Disaster Memorial Gravesite......a touching tribute to the 96 men and boys who died in 1902 when a gas explosion ripped through the mine.
I used to visit this site every year......and just read the names and ages of the boys......I have miners on both sides of my family, and whilst many of them died from mining related diseases, none of them died underground.........and back to today's challenge.......and for this I am very grateful.
Define how you will measure success for 1 of your goals.
Okay..........one of the things I am aiming to do is get my books out of storage, and unpack them onto the new bookshelves hubby has just assembled.
And as DC asked that this goal be quantified, success will be when all 40 plus boxes of books are unpacked, arranged in subject order, and looking fabulous on their new shelves.
Today's photo is of a wonderful pinafore that I have had preserved and mounted into a perspex box.........and it hangs in my hallway.
My great grandfather Herbert wore this in 1876.
Give yourself permission to explore a new goal.
I have recently reviewed my goals.........and have discarded a couple that I realised didn't really sit well with me........and have added a couple that make my heart sing.
Today's photo is our Rainbow Lorikeets.........we have about 30 of them visit us daily........they sit on our fence and clothesline, and at the moment they are dancing to the tune of springtime love..........and chatter........they are very vocal!
Pledge to keep an open mind when it comes to your age and setting a goal.
I will...........although, I think that I also need to be realistic about the fact that I have lived more years that I have in front of me........and that realisation does influence what my future goals are.........I don't want to be making massive work goals for the future.......my future goals will be centred around travel, adventure, family life, grandparenting, cultural and soul affirming pursuits.
Yes.......I will still make work goals........but work is no longer the driving force in my life as I honour my age.
Today's photo is again of the Clarence River.........yesterday was our iconic Bridge to Bridge Ski Race..........104 kilometre race with speedboats travelling at speeds of up to 160kimometres, towing two skiers the whole way.
If you look closely on the far shore you can see 2 boats roaring past us in this photo.
Name your reward for meeting a goal, and write it down or put up a picture that represents it.
My reward is an hour long Shiroabhyanga or as it is commonly known.......an Ayurveda Indian Head Massage with hot oil..........absolutely blissful.........and I am so sure that I will meet this goal, I have booked the massage for next week!
