Kathy L. is taking time away from Daily Challenge and will be back on November 1, 2016.
I'm taking a break as we are going on vacation to celebrate our 35th anniversary. I will see you all next month!
we use sour lean instead of sour cream, with less fat & calories. also there is light mayo too with less fat! I don't like margarine but do use butter.
today was a busy day. my boss texted me that one of the dogs I walk didn't do his job when the owner let him out in the am before work. so I had to get there early. I was rushing to get ready! then off to swim after walking 3 dogs. I had PT this afternoon & I think there is finally some progress! it's been about 2 months now. I am hopeful! my 2 hr bible study tonight was good. we had a fellowship time with snacks beforehand! that was nice :-) I have a friendly discussion group this year.
I will be taking time off as we are going on vacation next week. I have things to do before we go!!

thank you to my lovely connections Vivian & Rita for your encouragements!! ♥ ♥
challenge done! Yay!!
our neighbor came over & surprised us by blowing our leaves in piles that were easy for my husband to bag up this afternoon! he bagged 40 bags. i think maybe ~1/4 of the leaves have fallen from our trees! it was a beautiful day today! close to 70 & the fall colors are just gorgeous!!
I walked last night after sunset & enjoyed the full moon!! tonight it is a rainy night & I missed the moon... there is nothing like a full moon lit night!
I hope everyone has a great start to their week!

389 points Sarah!! thanks for the pact :-)
I don't know what I would call this imaginary book... here is a tentative outline for the last 5 months:
chapter 1 falling down the stairs in June & recovering with physical therapy
chapter 2 plumbing disasters of the summer
A. a new upstairs bathroom sink faucet erupts into a disastrous leak into the basement!
B. a new water meter turns into a leaky pipe in the basement disaster!
chapter 3 splinter imbedded in my thumbnail requires a painful urgicare visit
chapter 4 hamstring strain & being unable to walk for weeks in July
chapter 5 discovering I need a knee replacement in Aug.
chapter 6 I turn 60! the "good grief" chapter for Sept.!!
chapter 7 my husband is diagnosed with basal cell skin cancer
chapter 8 learning to cope in Oct. when my cat is newly diagnosed with diabetes
chapter 9 what next? stay tuned!!
what can I say? it's been a difficult time for the last 5 months!
thanks Diana for the encouragement!!
maybe the next 5 months will be better???

I had milk yogurt & cereal today!! I have chicken in the fridge for tomorrow!
Sarah tomorrow is point counting day!! can't wait to see what the DC fairies have in store for the end of our fun fall pact!!
I had a busy day again today!! physical therapy in the AM before walking 2 dogs. then my swimming routine & afterwards picking up our granddaughter at her school. we went out for supper before seeing the play Romeo & Juliet. it was a long play. our granddaughter didn't know the story (she's 12) & so it was interesting for her to try to understand the language. she said she cried at the end. we love going to plays!
our diabetic cat Vinnie has been eating his new diabetic dry cat food. I have it mixed 1/2 & 1/2 with his "old" food. the vet said the diabetic food is safe for our other cat to eat as well. I have a feeling we will be dealing with insulin & all he supplies that go with it plus doing blood samples from his ear at home to check his blood sugars. that will happen after our vacation. good to try the prescription cat food first & see if there is any significant reduction in blood sugar readings.
we had a blustery day with leaves blowing all over!! I entertained my granddaughter with feeding the blue jays & squirrels with peanuts on the deck rail. also, she was impressed the ducks knew when I was outside & were waiting at the fence for me to put out corn. they are getting bolder & come close to me while I toss out the corn!! they are smart! in the past they have come up to the sliding door & look in, checking to see if anyone will be bringing corn out. my husband then has to feed them if I am not home!!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!! ;-)

this summer my goal has been to swim at the ymca mon-Friday! I have pretty much done it!! I have done some wknds too :-) this fall I have kept up with the mon-Friday swimming & do Saturdays when I am not busy!! I feel good in the water & also do a routine of exercising & water walking as well. I have been going to physical therapy since early sept for my right knee & right shoulder that were both injured when I fell in june. also to get support for my right knee due to the fact of needing a knee replacement. so on top of my daily swimming & exercise routine at home, I am doing PT exercises too!! I am busy!! I also have been walking 2-3 dogs daily mon-Friday as well.
today the grandkids loved the mac & cheese (so did I). my granddaughter loved helping to make our chocolate chip muffins!! we do a lot of baking when she stays overnight! my daughter's husband came home after work & I ended up staying for supper. he made a yummy dish with sweet potatoes, red quinoa & garbanzo beans in a coconut milk base sauce. it was so good I had 3rds :-)
sarah we have finished day 3 of our pact!! past the hump day!! :-D
upwards & onwards!!
♥ ♥ ♥
I can get a flu shot at my clinic! they have walk-in times.
our temps got cold today!! in the 30's during the nite & 40's during the day. sweatshirt & fall jacket weather!! I walked 3 dogs today & did not see any exciting birds :-( I enjoyed my swim! after raking leaves for an hour yesterday (& being careful of my back & knees! which was hard) the swim felt good. work out the kinks!!
it is suppose to freeze tonight. I brought in my porch potted flowers. soon I will have to close up the porch & say bye bye to the flowers... I will miss reading on my porch & having my breakfasts with coffee on the swing... (sigh)
I made mac & cheese tonight to take to my grandkids house tomorrow when I pick them up after school. I am doing this once a week & it is a lot of driving. glad we don't have snow yet!! my daughter had given me a jar of dry ingredients for chocolate chip cupcakes & plan to make them with the grandkids! I hope everything goes ok tomorrow!!
Sarah day 2 of our pact!! :-D

challenge done!! interesting challenge.
well, the blood work came back on my cat Vinnie. his blood sugar was in the 300's which is very high for a cat. normal is 170's. there are 2 options for treatment. changing his diet to a no carb cat food. a challenge as he doesn't eat wet food but the vet said there is a new dry food that we can try that is prescription. dry foods tend to use a lot of carbs to stay together!!
the second option if the diet change doesn't work, he will need insulin. shots are given subQ in the neck or wherever the cat tolerates it. blood sugars will need to be checked every few weeks too! the vet said we can poke the ear to get the drop of blood needed!
fortunately we have caught the diabetes early (I noticed his drinking increased in the last couple months) & he lost 3 lbs which I didn't know. he is not terribly sick. the vet said people don't know the symptoms & will bring in very sick cats.
sorry to talk so much about my cat. it will be a challenge & time consuming as well as expensive for all the supplies & tests! I sure learned a lot today! I did not ask the vet about how diabetes can affect the health of a cat in general in the long run. I know people can have poor circulation & lose a leg or have kidney difficulties due to diabetes. I will have to find out about cats & what they can face in the long run with diabetes.
today is day one of our pact Sarah!! thanks for the invite!!
thanks to all who stop by! thanks for reading my long post!! ♥
