I am 59. i have 2 adult children & between them i have 2 grandgirls & 1 grandson. I worked as a psych nurse in a hospital setting for over 25 yrs. It's great being retired! I love to read, take walks enjoying nature & going to movies! I currently live in Minnesota & am from Wisconsin originally. I am so sorry but i have enough connections to keep track of!! I do apologize as i would love to accept everyone! Thank you for visiting ♥ ♥ ♥

Kathy L. is taking time away from Daily Challenge and will be back on August 28, 2016.

I'm taking a break as I will be covering for my boss's vacation starting this weekend. I need the time off as I have to get to bed early as I will be getting up early & be busy all day into each evening!! see you when I get back! :-)

My husband & I were talking about this challenge. We both thought of the juicy lucy. It is a burger that has cheese in the middle. It is really good too!! Other thoughts were the state fair where there are fun foods each year! Lefse on a stick, deep fried snicker bars & other unique food items can be found at the state fair!! Another food item we thought of is the tater tot hot dish with wild rice!! Yum! So many ideas of foods that are common in Minnesota. After listening to Garrison Keiller on the radio & thinking of those Lutheran pot lucks in the church basement, we could add all kinds of fun jello salads & casseroles to the list too!! :-)

I was at the Dr today as I wanted to get my right knee & right shoulder checked out from my fall back in June. The Dr was really good so I feel comfortable coming back to him. He did confirm that I have arthritis in my right knee which I suspected. I will be getting a knee replacement down the road which wasn't happy news. My shoulder has some arthritis which I knew of & nothing to be worried about. He did recommend Physical Therapy for both areas to improve strength & joint stability which is fine. I found out my insurance covers one close to me which was a nice surprise! I also have been having right hip pain unrelated to my fall. He did xray it & I am not surprised but I have arthritis there too!! good grief. It's bad enough having fibro & now as I age, arthritis will be my constant companion I guess. sigh....

Tonight I took a look at the full moon! Very beautiful! There was a lightening show in the clouds underneath the moon & it was very cool to watch! I watched orange colors light up the sky & white wiggly lightening peeking out between the clouds!

I will be taking a break as I start covering for my boss on sunday. I really need to get a few things done before I cover the vacation & start going to bed early as I will be getting up early all week! I will miss everyone! thanks for stopping by! thanks for listening!! :-)

a sticky & humid day today. must of been from the rain!! the nights have been cooler which is nice. a precursor of fall!! can't wait...

we made plans with my daughter & her family to see the movie, pete's dragon on Saturday!! I hope it doesn't make me cry. some of those kids stories are touching!! I am looking forward to it! ;-)

I hope everyone has a terrific Thursday!

this is a nice challenge! challenge done!! ;-)

a low key day today. we had some rain which is always welcome, especially in August which is usually very dry! I got my walk & swim in which is always good!!

my husband, as a deacon, was invited to a parishioner's home with the church priest. they had a lovely Lebanese meal. the hostess is Lebanese & enjoys cooking! I got some left overs which were delicious!!

I have been watching old movies this summer. tonight it was Edward Scissorhands. I can't believe that came out 26 yrs ago!

    have a wonderful Wednesday!

    thanks for stopping by!

thanks Lynne for your encouragement! ♥

I always read the labels & figure out serving size. I use myfitnesspal app to count calories & keep track of fat grams (I have high cholesterol).

a beautiful day today. I hear the humidity will be returning & it will be getting hotter. I have been loving the cooler nights & bearable days. I know fall is around the corner...

busy day with swimming, a walk, cleaning the downstairs bathroom & having the plumber over! turned out there was a defect in the faucet he installed on Friday that led to the leakage. we were under warranty & got a new faucet. he double checked the areas where I had leakage & there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage. he was very nice!

thanks for the comments of concern about my plumbing problem!

A low key lazy Sunday which was fine by me!! I sure don't miss working weekends like I did as a nurse. One benefit of being retired!

I don't have any plans this week so far. I will keep my options open!! usually I can count on a date night with the hubby at some point!! :-)

I am off work until Thursday which is a nice break. then I cover for my boss's vacation next Sunday through to Saturday!

I hope everyone has a great start to their week!

thank you Rita & Vivian for the encouragement!! ♥ ♥

I always park far & take the walk. it drives my husband nuts as he is always driving all over to get the "closest" spot! he even wants to drop me off at the door & I always say, park far. a stretch of the legs is good for me!! I can't tolerate a lot of sitting & like a bit of walk if I have been in the car & then we are going to sit at a restaurant or movie theatre!

we had a new faucet put in our upstairs bathroom Friday & my husband woke me up stating there was a leak downstairs. turned out the new faucet is leaking. I was able to turn off the water at the sink. we had 3 pails downstairs to catch the drips & towels down on the floor! there was leakage under the sink upstairs & on the floor around the sink! what a mess... no plumber until Monday!

I hope sunday is a better day!!

    thanks for stopping by!!

      How unfortunate.
Please be aware that such a leak could start a mold problem so do something preventive about that.

Lorenna the plumber is coming Monday. I turned off the water leading to the sink to stop the leakage. the water ran through the ceiling to the downstairs. I had fans going & towels soaking up the water. I hope it is all dried up now! I hope the plumber can figure out what ...see more

I am not much for home made gifts. in the past I have written poems for Christmas or done a Christmas newsletter with photos. I do like to put together photos in albums for the grandkids & my kids for memories at Christmas!

a low key day. I was off from my pet care job. swept out the garage, did some baking & made supper. felt domestic today!

the neighbor's cat is an outdoor cat & has already killed 2 birds & one chipmunk in my yard. when I walked today, I caught the cat with a baby bunny & was able to save the baby bunny. I hope it wasn't able to catch it after I left...

movie night tonight. we watched Doc Hollywood. that is an old movie. made me laugh. it's good to laugh :-D

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

thank you Rita for your encouragement!! ♥

I usually pack things in a bag or tuck something in my purse if I need a snack. when I worked I made all my suppers & had containers I used to carry my meals in!!

fortunately we didn't have flooding by us. the pond out back which is the neighbor's pond, had a bit of flooding into their yard. there was a duck sitting on their fence which was in the middle of the flooded part. I think the duck was trying to figure out what happened to the shoreline!!

I met with my boss today for the pet care job. she is going on vacation near the end of august & we had to go over the pet care schedule. besides her dogs I will have one dog to check on daily & 2 parakeets too!! it shouldn't be too bad but I will be busy as her dogs need checking 4x a day! I hope to keep working for her this winter.

I hope everyone has a nice Friday!! it's almost the weekend!
