Photo on the left is my grandson at a carnival in the borough next-door to where my daughter is living now in London. Looks like they had a good day at the carnival! My granddaughter stayed home and studied as she has exams coming up I think this week.
We had a lovely Father’s Day chat with them all. It’s always nice to see them on video chat.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Thank you for being great dads to your children!
About the challenge, I have some fruit that I can swap out. I have blueberries in the fridge and some apples on the counter.
We’re still under a heat advisory until 8 o’clock this evening. We’re also under a tornado watch. Weird weather today! I am home in the comfort of air conditioning and hoping the weather doesn’t get too bad out there!
Photo is of a baby fledging Robin that was on my roof top of the garage. I’m looking out the dining room window at it. It was very noisy and fluttering its wings calling for mama to feed it! And then it took off and I actually caught it mid flight! All my photos are with my cell phone camera so they’re not the best.
I am thankful for so many things around my house. With this hot weather this weekend and the heat index in the advisory range I am really grateful for air-conditioning and fans! I’m grateful for a washer and dryer. I’m grateful for appliances like toasters and blenders! I’m grateful for my fridge, microwave and stove!
I actually have a gratitude journal that I write in every night before bed. I think about things I’m grateful for or just journal about my day all the good stuff! Sometimes the bad stuff gets in there too; we have to take the good with the bad I guess!! That’s life!
It’s been fun since I got my new phone that I can post pictures on my posts. Thank you for indulging me with my photos. Those of you who have known me for a few years know I’m always talking about nature and birds & my walks on the trail, now you can see it all when I post my pictures! Oh and don’t forget our cats!
Stay cool if you’re in horrible heat like we are! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by...
Photo is from my walk last night just as the sun was setting. This is the marsh area on the trail where I usually walk. It was nice to walk there again last evening.
Unfortunately I can’t sit crosslegged. I can sit normally and do this stretch.
Happy Friday everyone! I hope your Friday is great!
Challenge done! I had organized & cleaned my fridge really well after the kitchen remodel before my surgery. Still looking pretty good on the fridge door!
For fun this photo shows a red fox my daughter in London said came to visit a playground she had brought the kids to play at. She took a couple photos. She sees foxes a lot in the city of London!
The top photo is my mallard pair of ducks that have been hanging around this summer! They like to make their daily visit to the corn feeder. I’m waiting for them to have babies, so far they haven’t.
My husband forgot to put corn in the corn feeder this morning before he left for work!! Oops! I was looking out the window and saw the wood duck with her 10 babies. They are getting bigger! They were looking for corn. Babies can’t quite reach up to the feeder but one was trying! So after my shower I quick filled the feeder. Now I’m waiting for them to come by again.
Just so you know that was my first time walking outside without a cane as I was carrying a bag of corn and didn’t think I could manage both. I walked very slowly!
Yesterday evening mrs. wood duck came by three times with her babies so I’m hoping she’ll come by again today!! That’s a big brood to keep fed and to keep track of.
If you haven’t figured out yet I do like nature and especially birds! Today I woke up to the sound of house finches by my bedroom window I have the window open. I figure their babies are fledging now. I’ve been waiting! While sitting on the screen porch I saw a poor mrs. house finch with three babies chasing her and fluttering their wings begging for food! It’s so fun to watch them
I hope everyone had a terrific Thursday! Thanks for stopping by with a smile or a comment!
Photo is my grandson’s artwork after visiting the Kew Gardens in London on a school trip. My daughter was one of the chaperones! She was worried it would be a bit much to handle with all the little kids but she said she had a great time! My grandson is six years old.
Regarding the challenge, I think I’m going to put broccoli on my grocery list. I don’t have any of the items in my house right now. I do love broccoli, kale & almonds!
I’m getting ready for my afternoon physical therapy. I’m always nervous before the sessions and afterwards I get pretty tired out. I just have to keep at it so I can regain skills and keep my muscle strength up in my surgical leg. Hopefully I’ll be able to go up and down steps soon the normal way and not just one step at a time!
After some windy rain on Monday, there was lots of yard debris to clean up!! We have cottonwood trees across the street & their branches just blew all over our yard. I went around the yard for about an hour using my cane & gripper so I didn’t have to bend down picking up branches filling a lawn & leaf bag up!!
My husband came home and swept the driveway and the curb around our property filling up another half a bag! I was pretty tired out after that. I’m not used to standing for an hour at a time.
It was so nice to be out in my yard listening to all the bird chatter! Just being in my yard is part of my heart. Thank goodness my husband supports all the birdfeeders I have in the yard!
Photo is a grackle! Your common blackbird! Thought I would change the filter to black-and-white for fun. That’s my suet feeder and I get a lot of activity year around. Between woodpeckers, female red wing blackbirds, crackles, chickadees and nuthatches, even the house sparrows like the suet.
I am very happy to be having a female wood duck coming to my corn feeder with her 10 babies. They’re so cute and fluffy and look fairly newly hatched.
The fledglings are out! It is fun to watch them by their parents with their little wings flapping begging for food. I saw a robin feeding a baby who was flapping it’s wings on a tree branch. The parent dropped their beak full of worms and they both dived down to the ground to get them.
The challenge, I’ll give it a try when I do my stretches. A big challenge for me in physical therapy is to try going up the steps with my surgical leg. Still pretty painful to do.
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday!!
Challenge done! I read all the information about the virus.
Here is our cat Hermie! He loves looking out the sliding door downstairs. That’s where the corn feeder is and he can see all the ducks coming. The other day we had a female wood duck with about 10 babies come to the corn feeder. The babies looked newly hatched.
Birds often hang around and he likes watching them too. At the time I took this photo there was a mourning dove by the corn and a cardinal hopping around in the grass. The chipmunks and squirrels also like to lay on the deck stairs that he can see and taunt him because he can’t chase them!
I guess you could call it, Hermie’s cat TV!
Sorry I didn’t get online last evening and tonight I’ll try to visit posts and answer comments.
Photo is from my walk yesterday evening. On the left is bittersweet night shade which has pretty purple flowers that look like shooting stars! On the top right is a fern that only grows in one spot on the trail and usually is pretty well hidden. Since they chopped all the foliage to do their construction all winter putting up new electrical poles, I am surprised the fern did grow in an exposed area. I like how it shaped. On the bottom right is tall meadow rue which is fun to spot with little white flowers. It’s hard to see the leaves there but the shape of the leaves are pretty, very rounded.
I will keep this challenge in mind for tomorrow. Tonight we’re going out for our big meal for Chinese. I’ll probably save half of my meal anyway for a future meal. Their servings are usually awfully big.
Thank you to Vivian for the encouragement!
Thanks so I’ll stop by with a smile or comment! I appreciate you!
